Wisenight event

At the Wisenight event, our volunteers gave severalworkshopsonrenewable energy.. During one of these workshops we invited children between the ages of 7 and 14 their own water mill. to build. The watermill forms the basis for modern hydropower plants and is one of the ways to generate energy in a sustainable way.

During the first part of the workshop, the children learned hands-on how to manipulate the power of water in various ways. Then they got to work on building their own water mill using tetrabrick and cardboard, among other things. Afterwards, the children placed their water mills on top of one another, in a sort of waterfall system, to discover the power of water for themselves. The system allows the water mills to supply each other with energy. The photo shows this waterfall system in full action!

This workshop was developed within the framework ofWisenight 2021, an initiative in which we collaborated withBeWise (Belgian association of Women in science), among others, and which was funded by the European Horizon 2020.
